During your first appointment a thorough case history of your symptoms will be taken, followed by postural assessment, active/passive testing of ranges of motion and tissue palpation. If needed orthopaedic, neurological or other specialised tests will be carried out.
After assessment a working diagnosis and treatment plan is made. The remaining time will be used for treatment.
Follow up appointments will consist of a quick 'check in' to see how you have responded to previous treatments and any changes to your symptoms. Then reassessment and treatment.
A variety of hands on techniques will be used during your session, these will be discussed with you prior to treatment starting.
Medical acupuncture and kinesio taping can be used as an adjunct in these sessions.
For more information about Osteopathy please see the General Osteopathic Council.
It is best to wear clothing that you can move freely in, preferably loose fitting. Depending on which part of your body is symptomatic, you might be asked to undress to your underwear in order to assess and treat you. Wherever possible you will be covered with a towel so that you are comfortable and warm.
Please feel free to bring clothes to change into eg; shorts, vest top.
